T'ai Chi Class - Covid Safety Protocols

Welcome back!

The T’ai Chi classes at St John Vianney will be resuming next week, but as with all things Covid related, they won’t look quite the same. Below is a summary of the main provisions we are making to keep you safe:

  • An online booking system will be in place (see top of this page). You must book each class in advance, as places will be limited to 8 per session, available on a first-come-first-served. Please only block book sessions if you intend to come to all of them and pay in advance (£30 per half-term), as this will prevent others from attending.

  • Individual lessons can be booked and paid for in person on the day of the class (£4 per week)

  • We cannot accept people turning up without booking in advance as it will take us over the hall capacity.

  • Once at St John Vianney Church, please follow the signs to Pre-School and enter through the gate at the back. A hand sanitiser will be placed on the wall next to the gate as you come in: Please ensure you use it before arriving in the hall.

  • Please ensure that if you need to change out of outdoor wear, you place coats on the floor, not the chairs

  • The class will be limited in what activities we can safely do, so we will be focusing on Qi Gong and T’ai Chi forms. Breathing exercises will be demonstrated to help you practice at home, but unless stated will be carried out breathing through the nose within the hall. On fine, warm evenings, it may be possible to undertake more extensive breathing exercises outside, so please dress warmly.

  • No contact exercises will be possible

  • Students are asked to remain aware of their social distance from others and to respect the 2m social distancing conventions for the safety of everyone.

  • We regret that the Church’s toilet facilities will not be accessible during lessons

We hope to welcome you back from Tuesday 8th September onwards. Whatever the current circumstances, it will be a pleasure to see you.

Kind regards,

Mike and the team
